We Applaud

these organizations working to help the underserved around the world

Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation has been a central part of every clinic we’ve organized, providing hundreds of volunteers as well as dental chairs and equipment, mobile units, medical exam rooms and supplies. Originally established in Alhambra, California, the Buddhist organization became a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity in 1994. It now has more than 80,000 volunteers in 21 offices and facilities across the country, providing medical and dental care, programs for the homeless, children and seniors, and other essential services. The Foundation has been a leading responder in disaster relief across the U.S., providing both medical and financial support to victims. Tzu Chi operates four permanent clinics in the Los Angeles area offering low cost care. For more information, visit www.tzuchimedicalfoundation.org

VOSH International Services to Humanity (VOSH) is a non-political, non-sectarian organization that provides eye examinations and eyeglasses to underserved communities throughout the world. VOSH has  partnered with the World Health Organization (WHO) to fulfill a joint pledge to eliminate preventable blindness by the year 2020. VOSH programs provide eyeglasses and help to treat eye diseases in short term events and in permanent sustainable clinics, mainly in Latin America. The VOSH-California chapter has been our vision partner in several previous clinics and will be again at the upcoming Care Harbor clinic at the Sports Arena.  For more information about this organization and its programs, visit www.vosh.org

The Care Now Foundation is a separate nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity that provides essential healthcare to areas of Africa where basic care is inadequate or unavailable. They partner with African organizations which are opening or operating village medical clinics but need assistance to offer effective care. The Foundation organizes and funds shipments of medical supplies, medications, instruments and equipment, and also provides direct support to medical professionals. In-kind gifts from U.S. healthcare organizations and other donors are consolidated and delivered to the village clinics that need them. The Foundation also seeks financial support to help them continue their mission of developing self-sufficient African clinics. For more information, visit their website, www.Carenowfoundation.org
